Dear Friends,
It is November and many of us riders are ending the season, which I hope was a good one for all of you.
Whilst we here at the Seacoast discontinued our regular Wednesday evening rides for this year, we are still riding Saturdays or Sundays, but weather permitting, and on short notice. This is what many of you are doing as well, as I can see from the MeetUp announcements.
What is everybody doing during winter? It is one thing to continue staying in shape physically by riding indoors, join a gym, or go winter hiking like I do, with some of my cycling buddies, but we should also not forget the social aspect.
We here at the Seacoast meet every first Wednesday of a month at our 'official hangout', the 'Blue Mermaid' in Kittery ME. Every medical professional will tell you, that being socially active, besides of course physical activities, is a big part of growing older in a healthy way for mind and body.
If you are around and want to join us, you are more than welcome, and why don't you consider having regular social gatherings with your fellow riders in your area throughout the winter? Unfortunately, we as a Club are too spread out to have regular meetings with all members, but hopefully we get at least one meeting going in the near future.
Two of our long time members, Jim and Brenda Knight are moving to the Buffalo area. They are both very active GSW members since 2012, with Brenda being a ride leader for many years. Jim and Brenda are dedicated cyclists, riding 3 or more times a week, and have also participated in the Prouty for many years. Particularly the N89ers and the Slow Spokes groups will miss them dearly.
Brenda and Jim, from all of us here at the Board, we wish you all the best in your future endeavors. Health, fun and many more years of riding. Thank you for what you did for the Club. Should you ever come back visiting New Hampshire, do not forget to bring your bikes.
All the best, stay safe, and Happy Thanksgiving.
